Man at Basketball Court Just Keeps Missing Shots
Albany, NY-- A man at the basketball court is just missing shot after shot, say witnesses. Witnesses say the man has been at the court for about a half hour and has missed the vast majority of shots he’s taken.
“I want to say he’s made 3. But he's shot it like 50 times," said Michael Richards, park walker.
"I think he's only made 2," said Jacob Stetman, Richards' walking partner, shaking his head.
Witnesses say it doesn't matter where on the court the man goes.
"He's missed shots from far away but also plenty of shots from way up close. It seems like it doesn't really matter where he shoots from; they just don’t go in," said Stetman.
Rachel Sanders, who is at the court with her 8-year-old Liam and his friend Ben, wonders why the man keeps shooting. “Don’t they say that when you do something over and over again expecting a different result that that is the definition of insanity? If it was me, I wouldn’t want people seeing that.”
Liam Sanders disagrees. “Mom, you always say 'practice makes perfect.'”
“ " Yeah, you’re right, Sweety. But that man is like 40. That ship has sailed.”
"What does that mean?”
“Nevermind, Sweety. Just go back to your game.”
Witnesses say the man does not seem too discouraged by his failure.
"Every once is a while, he’ll shout, "come on!" or "really?" said Richards. "But he doesn’t give up. And when he does hit one, it’s a resounding 'that’s what I’m talking about!' He's talking himself through it."
At the time of publication, the man was chasing the ball down the court after it had ricocheted off of the rim from a missed 3 pointer.
